Bagman Creech was a member of the Skinner's Guild.

History[]

Creech was one of the main Londoners to battle against the Scriven during the uprising. He was viewed to be a war-hardened hero, risking his life to free the city, and acted as a leader to the Guilds; during an attack on the Order of Engineers, he intervened to prevent the murder of the Engineers at the hands of an angry mob, claiming that they had 'no quarrel with their own kind' and suggesting that they follow his lead in attacking the Barbican.

Following the fall of the Barbican, he went to the Brick Marsh and killed all but one of the Scriven remaining in London; he later felt that it wasn't a fair fight as the Scriven were defenceless, and that it wasn't the "rock and roll" that the Riots were said to be. After the Riots were over, Creech protested against the New Council's decision to stamp out the Skinner Guilds; he was imprisoned as a result, severely impacting his later health.

Over the following years, he and the other Skinners watched over London in case any Scriven or similar mutants had survived. Over time, the remaining Skinners would gradually die off, leaving an ageing and ill Creech as the last living Skinner.

Fourteen years after the uprising, Bagman employs Charley Shallow as his assistant and successor, having heard rumours of a potential Scriven in London. By that time he has to walk with the aid of a stick, and displays severe breathing difficulties, with frequent fits of coughing near-incapacitating him.

He pursues Fever Crumb to find out if she is a Scriven or not and follows her to the Brick Marsh, where he is shot and killed by Shrike after Creech attempts to kill Fever. His death is seen by other Londoners as a sign of Fever being a Scriven, igniting violent riots against the New Council throughout London.
