Crawley is one of London's suburbs and is mentioned in passing in both Mortal Engines and A Darkling Plain, built back in the golden era of traction. During the Third Boom, Crawley was a moderately successful predator in the northern hunting ground[1].
Legacy[]
Although the suburb was eaten by Motoropolis in 867TE it is the circumstances for this digestion that it is remembered. The small town was seen standing motionless in the edge of the frost barrens and the larger city saw it as a quick meal, when the suburb was dragged into the gut of Motoropolis it’s disassembly crews were met with a grisly sight, despite looking abandoned the entire population was still on board but had been violently murdered and the corpses of all Crawly’s citizens heaped in a warehouse on the bottom tier their right hands all removed.
Trivia[]
- Crawley is the work of the Collector, a rogue Stalker which is trying to repair its missing hand[2].
