Freya Rasmussen is a female human who was introduced in Predator's Gold.

She became the margravine of Anchorage before the events of the book, coming to power after the death of her parents by a plague,[1] before stepping down from the role after her city settled in Vineland.[2]

Description[]

Freya is good-looking,[4] and has similar Inuit-like facial features, similar the Aakiuqs.[6] She has pale skin and golden, autumn-colored hair. She is fat, despite being the same age as Tom. She wears an ice-blue dress, a fox-furred collar, and the buttons of her coat are all done wrong.[6] She has plump hands,[4] and her mouth tastes of cinnamon.[4]

Personality[]

At the start of Predator's Gold, Freya is shown to have had a somewhat of a small rebellious personality as shown on her thoughts on whether to keep traditions in Anchorage alive or not due to the small amount of population left. She also had somewhat of a spoiled attitude as seen with her feelings for Tom and jealousy towards Hester; though, after the event of Predator's Gold she becomes more mature.

Predator's Gold[]

After having read Nimrod Pennyroyal's book, America the Beautiful - the Truth about the Dead Continent, she set Anchorage on course for the Dead Continent, only to find that the book was fictional and Pennyroyal was a fraud. Despite this, a habitable zone was found, where she had Anchorage settle and become a static settlement, Anchorage-in-Vineland.

Before that, she helped Hester Shaw fighting against Piotr Masgard and the Huntsmen of Arkangel, whom the latter kills with extreme prejudice.

Infernal Devices[]

Freya is a schoolteacher in Anchorage-in-Vineland, remaining single, despite her efforts with Caul, until years later, when the couple finally married.

A Darkling Plain[]

Freya is mentioned in Wren's thoughts about New London.

She was later mentioned when Tom and Hester confronted each other about Anchorage's sellout to Arkangel on the Jenny Haniver.
