The Slow Bomb was a type of weapons system used during the Sixty Minute War.[1][2]
It consisted of a small asteroid boosted onto earth-impact trajectories, though how this was done is unknown (theories range from simple rocket motors, to advanced gravity manipulation.).
History[]
A number of Slow Bombs were triggered remotely by the Barefoot States (possibly the Middle East) in the final minutes of the Sixty Minute War and were expected to reach Earth some ten to twelve years after the exchange. These Slow Bombs destroyed Central America (tearing apart the land, as did the rest of the Earth), separating North America and South America and creating a 'sea' of craters (in all senses of the name.). A Slow Bomb strike also landed on the alps in Europe. They are likely to have been used elsewhere as well, but no further information on their use is known (besides the Remembering Machines' words,) or the craters they left on the ground. The impacts were powerful enough to fuse the land into a material called Blast-Glass: a radioactive mineral sought after by archaeologists interested in studying the Ancients' world, up to their end in a nuclear war involving "orbit-to-earth atomics and tailored virus-bombs".
